Ed question....please help me :'(

Okay, I am applying for UPenn's early decision Program.

I submitted my Common App and Supplement on 10/10/10. I sent in my application fee waiver earlier, probly around a week before i submitted my common app and supplement. Well I was wondering why I have not recieve conformation on my receipt of my application, or when I will for that matter, and more importantly, if they will accept my fee waiver or not. And how will I know if they recieved my test scores and transcripts??

One of the people who answered the phones for UPenn admissions said they will let me know if they will accept my fee waiver AFTER the deadline. So I won't know if anything went through until after the deadline????

And I also plan on applying for UPenn financial aid, and to do this, I need forms submitted by the Nov 1st deadline. The only problem is, one of the forms to be filled out online requires my Penn ID....WHICH I WONT HAVE UNTIL THEY RECIEVE MY APPLICATION. the deadline for this form is the only one that extends past the nov 1st deadline, it is due between nov 1st and nov 15th.

All of this is really confusing to me, and all I want is to know if my fee waiver will be accepted, because if it will not be, then I cannot apply to this university. I am using the UPenn fee waiver form, it was faxed probably around the third of october.

Can anyone help straighten out my head please?! :D

WHOA WHOA WHOA can somebody confirm? I’m applying financial aid and I thought that stuff was due like early january…

it says on the upenn website for financial aid that if an ED candidate wants financial estimates at the same time as ED acceptance, then the forms have to be completed by the deadline…you can still apply after, but it will take longer to get to you…thats for ED candidates

[Financial Aid Checklist](Submit My Documents | Penn Student Registration & Financial Services| Penn Srfs)

Oh, just estimates… whew.

Yeah, just estimates…sorry for the mini heart attack! haha…but i need these estimates because I have to be able to decide with my parents if i can go there (thats even if i get accepted ya know) because if we can’t afford it we are able to get out of the ED program…but thats only if we still cannot afford it

I don’t think this is estimates, it is the real thing but needed earlier because you need to either accept or decline your ED acceptance very shortly after Penn accept you. They want real tax return and CSS form filled with real data from previous year if you don’t have current year tax info yet. They usually allow you to be a little tardy after Nov 1st, but you need to submit that not too long after.

O.O GASP - Can you show me a link please!? And can anyone else confirm this!?!

I can confirm this. I did this last year. This link is up there in post #3.

Also, Beast, you should get your ID shortly. There is still plenty of time. I took sometime for some people to get their ID last year, a little unpredictable to when ones would get it after submitting their apps. Once you get your ID, you will be able to check what material is missing. They will email you or send you a letter if they are waiting for something that you need to get in ASAP.

hey ttparent, thanks so much! i got my pennID this afternoon, but I did figure out that the guy who told me they confirm application fee after the deadline had no idea what he was talking about…so I dont know why he is answering the phones for admissions…but thanks!!! ill keep you updated on this stuff. goes off to fill out financial aid paperwork

You’re welcomed. Also, even with your ID, it sometimes takes a long time before they update your account on the material they got for your app. Last year, it was weeks for some people to see that they receive the teachers recs even though their teachers sent the recs in much earlier. As long as the common app is in, you will be fine. They will get back to you if they need something from you. I think it is probably the same thing for the waived application fee (they will get back to you later if they want it).
