ED Question

I don’t think my application is a joke: 2290 SAT, GPA above 4.3 (weighted), top decile of my class, sports and extracurriculars with leadership positions. Still, I am probably at the low end of average for a Brown applicant (the admission pool is generally so talented and so brilliant) but am very hopeful about my chances there. If I am not accepted ED, I would hope that they give me another shot and defer me; then I can at least show them my mid-year grades (which should be good). Brown is, by far, my number 1 choice.

Does anyone know if Brown has a general pattern for ED results? Do the admissions people generally only outright deny those who are way below average and defer most applicants? Or are many rather qualified students unfortunately denied? Of course, it’s difficult to know for sure and you probably can only surmise, but any help is appreciated.

Most students are deferred. A small percentage are denied. I know I have the statistics somewhere, but don't feel like searching; my guess: 20-25 percent accepted, 6-10 percent denied, rest deferred.

Oh okay, hopefully I'm not in that 6-10 percent!
Thanks for the input.
