ED question

Hi.

Um I’m new here, so it’s nice to join you all, and I hope you might be able to help me out.

Ok so I’ve always had this infatuation for Brown, and I just visited it about a month ago. It’s definitely my favorite, and this trip just confirmed and strengthened my feelings.

Earlier on, I visited Cornell and liked it a lot too. But I just can’t get my mind off of Brown.

My numbers are ok.
SAT is 670 math 730 cr 740 writing. SAT II U.S. History 750 Lit. 740
AP US 5; AP Eng Lang 5
GPA w-4.34 uw-4.0
top 10% of class of 675

I play football and do track and intramural basketball. I play guitar, landscape, Social Chair of NHS, Pres. of FBLA, Progressive Club, Junior State, blah, blah, blah all sorts of stuff like everyone else.
I’m trying hard not to make this a conceited chance thread haha so I’m moving on.

So my main dilemma is this-
ED at Cornell is explicitly encouraged to increase chances, and it would give me a 35-40% of getting in to a school that I really like.

Brown, on the other hand, is much more selective concerning acceptance rates and SAT scores. But I just love Brown and would go there over any other school.

My question is- would it be worth it for me to apply ED (or RD I guess) to Brown because I love it so much?
Or would I just be wasting my time because my scores aren’t that great?

Thanks in advance :)

I would recommend applying ED to Brown. You’re obviously in love with Brown and I’d hate to see you not apply and have to always wonder what might have been. Just kill your essays, get great recs, and consider raising the math score. Good luck my friend! I’m applying to Brown RD so I understand your infatuation.

Thanks for your input! My scores are probably set in stone, though, because I already took the SAT twice. It’s just that if I don’t get into Brown, there is also a higher risk of not getting into Cornell (no ED). I just don’t want to be rejected from all of my top choices.

You will never know if you don’t try. Just have great essays and a back up plan-some realistic second choice schools to apply to just in case. Best of luck
