I’m currently a high school junior interested in applying early decision to Sargent College. I understand that if you apply to a specific school but don’t meet the criteria, your application is reviewed in CGS. Is this true for early decision applicants? If I apply to Sargent College ED but don’t get in will they review my application in CGS, or will I be deferred and then reviewed for CGS during regular decision? And, if they do review ED applications in CGS and I’m accepted there, is it still binding?
Reading these boards makes me so nervous about my chances! I currently have a 3.45UW/4.23W gpa, 1840 SAT, 28 ACT, 14 honors classes, 5 APs, 230 community service hours, and a wide range of extracurriculars.
BUT I don’t want to get my hopes up for SAR. I know CGS isn’t a bad option, and I wouldn’t mind being enrolled in that program, but SAR is definitely my top choice right now.

I am in the same situation as you and hoping to be accepted early decision at BU next year. i also plan on applying to Sargent and to major in physical therapy or athletic training, what are you planning on majoring in? The only thing i am concerned with about applying ED is Financial aid, becasue my parents cannot pay 50 thousand dollars for me to go to school, does anyone have any information about aid for applying ED?

i’m hoping to major in human physiology. and I’m definitely in the same boat as you. I think that if I can get my test scores up a little higher my stats will be good enough to get me into SAR, but I’m afraid they won’t be enough to get me any merit scholarships.

For those needing significant financial aid to attend BU, DO NOT apply under early decision. BU does not match 100% of need for all students, so you should not apply to a binding program. Aid from ED and RD should be the same, so you do not risk much from choosing RD over ED. Assuming you have the grades, you will be considered for the merit scholarships as well as need based if you need it. I believe that you need to apply for financial aid in order to be considered for merit aid also. BU is somewhat generous in giving aid if you file your CSS/FAFSA in time by their deadline. I have significant need and received a great package applying under RD.

I probably will end up not applying ED solely because of money. It would take away so much stress though finding out in December as opposed to April. Have you toured the campus or anything yet brighteyes?

I’m in the [Welcome to Facebook | Facebook](<a href=“Facebook - log in or sign up”>Facebook - log in or sign up) which is BU’s facebook group for students admitted early decision. They emailed the link to the facebook group after we all got accepted ED. On the facebook group there ARE people who are in CGS, so I’m going to say that it’s safe to assume that if you don’t get into SAR ED you will probably get into CGS ED. It probably is binding …

What you can also do is apply CAS and then transfer to SAR. A lot of people do that surprisingly and I’ve heard that it’s actually really easy. One person said they emailed BU and immediately had their school switched!

I don’t want you to mess up with your application so I think you should email BU which is really easy. Go to : [Send Us an Email | Boston University Admissions](http://www.bu.edu/admissions/apply/contact-us/email-us/) and send them an email asking them how easy it is to switch from CAS to another school after admission and when you can do it. Or ask your original question. Hope I helped!

[CAS to SMG Help | Facebook](Facebook) <- the thread from the BU class of 2014 facebook group about someone who simply emailed and had their school/major changed within a few days

i dont know how easy it is to change from CGS to another sschool though
but from CAS to another school its easy
