UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND CLASS OF 2016! my grandma opened the envelope over the phone and started crying…awk… but yeah IM IN!

Nothing was in my mail today! Where do you guys live? And did it come with the rest of your mail or separate?

I live in ny, it was a thin cardboard usps envelope with a folder with the letter and a few things

YEAHH CLASS OF 2016!! goo spiders!

Congrats to those that received good news! Can you tell me if the letter came in the “regular” USPS mail, or did it come as priority mail or something else from the Post Office?? Thanks

ahh i didnt get anything today in the mail !! i guess ill have to wait another day !

It came in the regular mail in a priority mail prepaid flat rate mailing envelope. Size of a folder and thin.

Thanks Lucy.

Deferred…is that better then a denial?? I’m not so sure…I wonder how many they have denied… Any advice from anyone that made it from deferred to accepted?

marieclare - while that is not great news, it is not hopeless news! 9% of last years class came from the waitlist. I did see a recent post from someone who was admitted ED, her boyfriend was deferred and he was later admitted. There was a post somewhere on this thread I believe from a person who was ED last year and her boyfriend was deferred. He was later admitted. If you can find that (I’ll look too) drop her a note and see if he did anything special.

thank you so much for your kind words. It really does help! Maybe you can help me understand this process: Am I waitlisted? Does defer mean I am on a waitlist? or does it mean I just start over in the regular pool and I could still be either denied or waitlisted at that time? It’s so overwhelming! any advice?? anyone???

hey y’all! been following the thread & i just got my letter…class of '16!! so freakin excited. and marieclaire, my brother applied with me and also recieved a deferral. it means they will put your app in with the regualr decisions as if thats how you originally applied with the added bonus of them knowing that UR was your first choice. your decision is not binding anymore and now you can add anything else to your already submitted application, so best of luck to you and my bro!

We got good news just now (why of all days was the mail SOOO LATE TODAY??) - as everyone has been reporting, it came in a very thin USPS Priority cardboard envelope and had a folder in it. To marieclare – I was the one who indicated that I do know of a current freshman at UR who initially got deferred/waitlisted but, obviously, was admitted at some point (no idea when). I’m sure you can call UR Admissions and get more details of how the process works from here. Best of luck to you!

Congratulations!

Marie - my bad! Deferral is not the same as waitlisted. You probably have better odds with a deferral than a waitlist. You now have the advantage of being able to weigh other offers with the offer you may receive from UR. The down side is you are not going to know anything until about April 1. I think from the ED apps people were accepted, rejected or deferred. I would guess that a deferral puts you in a pretty good position with the regular decision group. Just my guess though. I would call the admissions office and ask them to explain exactly what this means for you.

My apologies for my previous redundant comment. I thought I edited it. I guess not!

I still didnt get anything in my mail today? Is there anyone else who still hasnt recieved a letter? Should I call or something?

Got my USPS Priority Mail today!

Congratulations Surfergirl! Represent PA!
