So here’s a discussion dedicated to everything specific to NYU Rory Meyers School of Nursing. Feel free to share advice and stats!
Hi, do you think they might release the decision before the 30th? It’s been so stressful and can’t concentrate on my online classes…
I’ve been so stressed out too! Honestly if they officially sent out the email saying they’ll release decisions on the 30th, I think it’ll be on the 30th. Especially when they sent it out to almost all applicants, I don’t think they’ll go back on their word.
I’ve been trying to find the average stats for applicants.
Ik for 2017-2018 applicants(according to @YoolmTim)
"Student 1: GPA- 3.7, AP- 4 More honors and DE than AP courses, no medical related extra-curricular, ACT-30
–Advice: “I know its difficult finding information for Rory Meyers. I still do not have much information. All I could tell you is that Nursing class of 2022 has only ~69 students. Im not sure if that is because it is so selective or because not a lot of people apply. They do not tell us”
Student 2: GPA- 3.80, AP-6, SAT- 1330, ED1, Low Income & First Gen. Background, strong extra-curricular. ED2
Student 3: GPA- 3.85, SAT- 1280, 3 year hospital internship, really good essay
–Advice: “Numbers seem like the only thing that matters, but they really aren’t for NYU. Theres more to your application. I can say for a fact that NYU is very holistic when viewing their applications. I really think the Why NYU essay and extra-curricular are very important”
Student 4 (GOT OFF WAITLIST): GPA- 3.9, SAT- 1300, college-level shadow, moderate extra-curricular and essay.
–Advice: “There are about 69 total students for Nursing class of 2022. Only 6 of them are guys (minority). Medical experience/interest really helps!!”"
These were the average stats like two years ago…
Last years ED1 accepted applicants stats were
Applicant #1: "Decision: Accepted GPA: 4.0/4.0 UW (Weighted is around 4.5-4.6) ACT: 30 "
Applicant #2: “89 not weighted and sat is like 1490.”
Applicant #3(waitlisted then accepted): SAT: 1360, GPA: 4.14 W, Strong Essays
Applicant #4: 30 ACT a 4.3 weighted and 10 hrs volunteer/year
Applicant #5(HEOP): 1230 SAT
These were all compiled from last years applicant CC’s Rory Meyers threads.
If you can add on more stats to this or give more recent admissions data, it would be greatly appreciated! This year’s application process will be more competitive!
@LeviAru Wow looking at these stats is making me nervous. I’ve just joined this site so I didn’t look at any threads…but I do have a friend who’s doing the Accelerated program right now
@Nursing7 Honestly it is nerve-wracking knowing that these stats were only last year’s and ED1. I can’t even expect what this year’s accepted applicants’ stats are despite researching all throughout the forums(allnurses, Reddit, CC).
@LeviAru what other schools have you applied to? I got accepted to Hunter and still waiting for Stony Brook.
I got into Cal State Long Beach Nursing and currently waiting on USC and NYU. Got waitlisted at UCSD and rejected by UCLA.
@LeviAru I wish you the best of luck. NYU is my first choice than Stony Brook. I can’t wait for this to be over
im soo nervous !! im in the full ib diploma program (honestly so happy that the exams got cancelled) and I feel like my essay and extracurriculars are amazing (over 300 hrs of community service hours, spent the whole summer volunteering in the OR at a hospital, national & French honor society member, and my essay talks about my desire to be in the medical field and the racism that I have faced because of the color of my skin), but my stats kind of suck lol (the ib program really kicked my ass). I’m just praying that it weighs out but at this point idk
My ecs are pretty similar to yours, I believe. I’m doing AP program(which is equivalent to IB diploma from what i searched up), 600+hrs of community service at ER, job shadowed doctors, Bioscience academy, and debate president/league champ for two years. My stats and essay skills like genuinely suck, so I’m praying that NYU would really really pay attention to ECs also. I wish I had more info on Rory Meyers and their average stats.
I honestly hope that we get in. I don’t think there are a lot of us that applied so that should be good.
I’m truly worried because I heard they only accept around 70 people for this college.
@LeviAru Around 65-70 students enroll so they probably accept more to account for yield rate. I’m pretty nervous too but don’t worry guys we got this!
If we all get in, we should so meet up!! The CC squad!
Your stats are really OP… If anything I have not done even a 1/10 of everything you did.
65-70 students only? I thought there was more? The past statistics show the graduating class for Nursing to be like ~400. Also, accounting that there are transfers and accelerated program, Idk if it is that low (hopefully).
Do you have the site where you got that info?
@IcyColdTea Well I got those numbers by dming Rory Meyers students(current undergrads) on Reddit. I also sorta asked the admissions officer(Fortuna Smith) who only gave me a percentage(25% of the whole student body including graduates are trad 4-year). Furthermore, Yoolm Tim(last year’s applicant) also asked around on Facebook and got that number as well from other Rory Meyers students.
Also thank you. Your academic stats are phenomenal! I honestly think NYU is a match for you.
Ya, sure let’s all meet up one day.
