ED/RD (dis)avantages

I consider applying for class' 10 as an international.

But I really dont understand what the differences and dis)avantages are to apply ED/EA or RD.

Can you help me out with this?

For ED/EA, the deadline is earlier (usually Nov. 1), and you get a decision around mid-December. If you have a definite first choice school, apply ED/EA. ED boosts your chance the most since you have to matriculate if admitted. EA allows you to wait 'till April and compare your offers.
That's what I know. Hope it helps.

check out the school websites on their definitions. ( CC makes you lazy doesn't it :))

most school's stats show that a school has a higher % of admittance but keep in mind that some schools (mostly the 'big' ones) has applicants from legacy's, athletic recruits.. so it shows that ed does not completely boost your chances from 10% (rd) to 30%(ed).

But if you think about it the other way, a lot of intels will ask for aid (which is competitive) and I heard that most (intel) applicants apply RD to various schools to compare fin.aid packages.
If you need alot of aid, I dont recommend applying ed. Applying ed kinda means that you have the ability to afford tution/living fees, no matter what kind of finantial package the school gives you.
and BTW, if you apply ed and get accepted, you are binded to that school.

true, but HYP have ENORMOUS endowments, which make them willing to give any amount of aid to int's
