Say you have a great senior year planned and your GPA will most likely rise significantly from the first semester. In this case would it be safe to apply RD instead of ED? I heard the chances of getting accepted ED are higher than RD, but if my app. will look better after 1st semester next year I'm wondering whether I should just go with the normal deadline

The answer to this question mostly depends on how badly you want to go to your number one choice school. If you don’t have a definite first choice, it’s probably not a good idea to do Early Decision. Yes, it is generally easier to get into places Early Decision, because the college knows the applicant pool is committed to their institution, but it IS binding. Typically with ED/EA, if you have a midterm report card, you can send that in to bolster your application.

So regardless of 1st semester senior grades, ED gives you a better shot of getting in? And they still see your grades, so that’s a plus I guess.

Right. But you shouldn’t just do ED because it raises your chances. You should do it because it’s your first choice school. Don’t throw away ten other choices that you’re very interested in for one that offers an ED program, for example.

Ok…

Yeah I’ll have to look into my schools I want to go to a little bit more.
