<p>I don't know, it seems like the kind of kids who apply to Duke in general are really strong, like I'm sure there are some people who have no business applying or it's a big reach for them (even though it's a reach for everyone) but like out of the 1500 ed apps Duke got this year I'm sure most of them are just as qualified as the people here... that's why we're all nervous haha</p>
<p>Oh and I called Duke today (anonymously) and asked when we'd hear and they said they mail out decisions on Dec. 15th and we could check online then. I'm disappointed cuz I thought it might be earlier, my good friend applied early to Columbia with the same Dec 15th decision deadline but they're finding out by email on the 8th... Maybe the woman in the admissions office just told me the 15th cuz they haven't officially decided on a time? I know it's only a few days, but it feels a whole lot longer than that, know what i mean?</p>

<p>I took the old SAT 1 and the writing SAT 2, so the 2300 is that combo, not the new SAT.</p>
<p>Oh my goodness. The waiting is killing me. I think the worst part about being deferred would be having to wait another four months. I drive past both East and West Campus every day en route to and from school, and it's almost painful how badly I want to be there as a student.</p>

a) rejected - I die of a heart attack after reading the letter
b) deferred - All hope drains and I slowly wither away in agony
c) accepted- I will have died from all this waiting and suspense before I even get the letter...</p>

<p>Everyone indeed seems very qualified with impressive profiles. I just have a quick question...My younger brother applied to Duke. He goes to a relatively bad public school that primarily graduates underachievers that look at a job as flipping burgers and college as a chance to blow mom and dads money while partying every night. Anyways, he managed to obtain similar stats as you guys and has some areas that helps him stand out from the pack (e.g. co-founder of ambulance training program for local youth, youngest intern at large medical research hospital, etc. etc.) </p>
<p>My question is this: Do you think Duke would be willing to accept a student with unique attributes that may have a relatively weak link in the application (for my brother his SAT I falls in the low range of accepted students and one SAT II is a 610...however he is in top 2% of class) or do you think Duke is so elite it will admit those rare students with seemingly no flaws?</p>
