I wonder if there is a correlation between fewer early Yale apps and Harvard and Princeton's announcements that they were ending their early programs?

Exactly. Plus Princeton's being ranked #1 this year doesn't help either. In fact, a few months ago, that exactly why I was NOT going to apply to Princeton... and now I'm going for ED :)

People were probably intimidated by yale's ridiculously low acceptance rate last year? AHhh, what if those people are switching to princeton's pool ><

lol....as much as I hate to admit it...but that was also my wish.....Everyone is going to apply to princeton this year...lol....(hypothetically ofcourse)

I don't think so many people are that dumb.. to choose a school based on a 1-point lead in the USNAWR rankings. A few of course but not that many...

But there are also a big decrease in the number of Texas applicants.

And just because more people apply does not mean it will be harder to get in.

The type of people who just apply to a school because it's number one and not number two, or because they seem to have a higher ED acceptance rate are probably not the smartest candidates anyway.

Yeah but princeton ED is BINDING.
So I doubt that a lot of people will bind themselves to a school just because it's number one.
I know some will, but I'm trying to say it's not going to be an UBER HUGE amount.

lets face it, a lot of people read the USN rankings like the bible. Some students may have been on the border on whether to ED to P'ton or not, becuz its binding and they might want to go to harvard or something. if P'ton becomes no.1, it increases that much in prestige and could be the "tipping" factor to make people apply ED there

ya i agree w/ omz's sarcastic comment lol. i really don't think it would "scare" anyone away. it would encourage more bright kids to apply and bind to it
