Hi everyone. I'm new to the board, but I've been visiting for a long time. I will be a senior this year and I am planning on applying to Stern ED. The thing is though, I haven't really taken any business classes in high school (The business department is a joke). I plan to apply either undecided or marketing. How much will my situation hurt me?

Um take the SAT's and get at least a 1400 the median was like 1440 a couple years ago, I think that would help your chances the most. Don't worry about buisness classes, they don't matter as long as you have taken the heaviest courseload.

I got in this year taking one business related class (Business Law) in high school, and it was taken during the second semester of my senior year meaning that they didn't even see the grade I got when they accepted me. And I never took an economics course either.

I don't think this will particularly hurt you. I mean it definitely could if other parts of your application aren't strong, but it's not one of the primary aspects Stern looks for because, as with all top schools, they want an intellectual diverse student body.

It's your test scores you should be more concerned about. You would fare well by getting your ACT up to at least a 30 and taking a Math SAT subject test. A 32 ACT and ~1450 SAT are the mean test scores, but I've met quite a few people, non-minorities may I add, who have gotten in with scores much below that.

im international (from a country where nearly every person applies to NYU (stern and cas) and i was waitlisted with a 1980 sat 1 ROFL.

U might wanna take a few more AP courses, I think having the toughest courses was what seperated me from the rest of the 12 ppl from my school (all of whom got outright rejected)

those APs are the only ones we can take as a junior at my school...and most only take APUSH.
I'm signed up for AP Comp, Calc AB, Spanish, Psych, and Lit for my senior year...plus all the rest are honors

If ur going into a business major, colleges actually DO NOT want you to take many business classes. Why? They are not challenging, and you won't learn much. They want you to concentrate on your core classes, and truely learn about business at the college level, where it matters.

Well if thats the most number of APs ur school offers, then i think ur all set.
They look at ur curriculum wrt to the offering of ur school. Since u have the hardest , i think ur good to go. Just try taking the SAT and get 2100+ and then ur in fo sho.
