I am on the fence between Early Decision to either Cornell or Carnegie Mellon University. I am applying as an ECE student. Can someone list the pros and cons (of the overall school and departments).
Thank you!

Perhaps if you started by listing the reasons why you want to go to each school, and your hesitations about each one (if any), you might get more helpful feedback (not to mention that the process of putting that on paper might in itself bring clarity).
Cornell’s campus offers exceptional beauty, both in architecture and setting.
Both of these schools are among the nation’s best universities for engineering.
As you have recognized, there will be more to your college life experience than ECE courses.
One environment may work better for you, either scholastically or outside the classroom, than the other.
But reasonable people will differ on this. The schools may have various characteristics, aspects of which which some may view as a pro and others as a con, depending on their personal preferences.
But my preferences may not be yours.
If visits/ overnights are offered you really should take them. And of course reading, on CC and elsewhere.
After that, I suggest perhaps address specific questions to the respective subforums.
Both great schools so it really comes down to personal preference.
Regarding Cornell, perhaps this old thread will be of some use:
