ED to Penn, EA to MIT, or RD to Harvard and Brown?

hm, so you can.
I don't know if I want to fully commit to Penn if I don't make the special program. I am going to talk to the representative from Penn about that tomorrow at my school's college fair

^ Good idea. You can also follow up by contacting the admissions office with any other questions.

But don't get too hung up on the special programs. Even if you aren't admitted to one of them, you still can easily put together your own individual program that includes many of the elements of the special programs. That's one of the big advantages of Penn.

Ok so she said that I can apply to the programs and if I'm not accepted, I can choose to either go early or defer the decision to regular application. Of course, right when I walked in the door after coming home from the college fair, I developed another question: can I apply to M+T first choice, Wharton early second choice, and then if I find out I got rejected from both, apply RD to the school of engineering? lol I have been on the website looking for an answer for this but so far my efforts have been futile... so does anybody know if you can do this? That may be an option for me if so.

^ Nope. You only get to name a single backup school to a joint program. See question 2b at the bottom of page 13:

<a href="http://www.admissionsug.upenn.edu/forms/CompleteApp.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.admissionsug.upenn.edu/forms/CompleteApp.pdf</a></p>

yeah but I'm saying... put Wharton as your backup school for M&T and then hear back from them early that you got rejected.

Then, you have 15 days or so until RD applications are due. Can you then send in another application separate from your M&T (wharton backup) applying for the school of engineering? Sorry if this is what you just answered.

No can do. You only get to submit one application per year:

IMPORTANT NOTE: Early Decision candidates who are denied admission in December may not reapply for Regular Decision. In addition, no student who has been denied admission under any of our decision plans may reapply to another undergraduate division of the University in the same academic year.
