anyone know if its too late to switch my application from ed to rd or to withdraw it?

Bump Please I Need This Information Asap

I believe that if the admissions office has already reviewed your application for ED, it will be too late to change to RD. On the applicant info website, there is a link for withdrawing your application. If you are thinking about withdrawing it, although not sure why you would at this stage, you could check that out.

do you know until when i could withdraw my app on the online status page

you can definitely withdraw it..theres no way cornell can do that to a kid that doesnt want to do early decision. try it on the website and if that doesnt work call them ealy monday. ps-saw your last posts and congrats on chicago man, thats awesome.

"theres no way cornell can do that to a kid that doesn't want to do early decision"

Uhh, you signed a statement that obligated you to attend Cornell if you were accepted. I don't know at what point Cornell considers that they have accepted you--after they've made the decision but before it is communicated to you? or after they have reviewed your file and made their decision? Don't know the answer there but I'd suggest you call first thing Monday and see what they say. If you violate the terms of early decision, your decisions at other schools can be rescinded.

definately give them a call & talk to them. your withdrawal might give another kid a chance at cornell, no?

if the policy is that once theyve accepted someone the ed contract goes into effect then ill be glad to attend cornell...the only reason i asked is because i wanna have a choice come may...i dnot fully want to withdraw but rather ed->rd because im still kind of in love with cornell...i emailed the office so i guess i have to wait now.

^^^^^^ OH my gosh! I am in the EXACT same position!

I really really like Cornell, but I want to have choices and I want to go through the rest of the waiting 'til April with my friends.

And so why would you do early decision?????

guys just call monday during school or something--why would you bind yourself to a school that you might not want to go to over another school????

I completely agree with tommy232 and cornell75...applying ED somewhere means that you're telling that school that it's your first choice. What would you have done if Cornell decisions came out before Chicago's??

To answer your question however, you can withdraw your app by going on the self-service account. On the lefthand column, theres a link that says "Withdraw application". Click on that and follow the directions.

ya early decision is for kids who don't want to have a choice, they are so set on cornell they totally neglect the opportunity to have a choice

I'm still really glad that I applied early to Cornell. If I get in, I will happily go, forget about other colleges, and enjoy my Christmas. But, my point is, sometimes, it feels like I'm giving up on all these other colleges that I like (not as much as Cornell, but still a lot) for Cornell. This makes it even harder to accept their decision in three days. Do you know what I mean, you dedicate so much to one college . . . if they reject you . . . well, then, it sucks. I don't like the feeling of NOT being in control of my future.

Well, good luck to everyone!

i know a girl who ED'd to NYU and but she ended up changing her mind, but she got accepted, and NYU told her that if she backs-out she will be blacklisted.

yeah...it's not a great idea to be indecisive when it comes to applying ED

I'm curious, Beefs - what ever happened with your Cornell application?
