ED to Williams...a waste???

I've been thinking about ED to williams along with other schools.......
my parents want me to go to like "name" school.....also since my sister is going to Williams now....i guess they don't want us going to the same school...and they probably want me to go somewhere that other people know about...... is it a waste to do ED to williams?? if i am not sure i will do RD to lots of schools so i can have choices....but i don't know if i have the same chance of getting into williams for RD.....i am really confused!!!!!! ahhh!!!

Your college choice is likely the one thing that is under your control right now. Since your parents seem pushy as opposed to helpful, I'd just yes them a lot, and spend your time thinking of what is a good fit for you.

Well, I think that's a question that you have to ask yourself. Do you see urself spending the four most important years of your life at Williams? With your sister? if the answer is yes... then go for it.

If not, then I'd find the college that I really wanted and apply early there.

You do have a better chance of admission if you use ED. But as the previous poster noted, you need to have no regrets (and the appropriate amount of money) if you are admitted. And you should have a reasonable chance of acceptance.

Do you have a list of priorities for your college search? Does Williams end up at the top of the list after you review those priorities? Are there other schools you think you would like as well or better? Relax and think about those questions a bit before you make a final decision. You should also engage your parents on the subject of why they aren't excited about Williams for you, and what they think about other schools you like.

I read your post on the Williams board before the revamp.. and I think their answers made a lotta sense. Apply early only to somewhere you really want to go, that's the only way you to do yourself, and the school, justice.
