ED Tufts?

Hello! I really love Tufts and I’d thought why not get all your opinions on Tufts and my other schools.

I did apply Early Decision to Tufts! Here’s my other schools as well:

Early Actions:

-Hofstra
-Drexel
-Tulane

Regular Decisions:

-American
-GWU (they also gave me a book award!)
-Fordham
-Trinity
-Syracuse
-UT Austin
-Emory
-BU
-Vassar

AND Yale as a joke (kinda)

I toured, attended a school meeting session and a planned interview via phone happening in the next few days for Tufts. (Although they don’t factor that stuff in.)

My Majors: (Duel Major) International Relations and Arabic Lang and Lit (Sometimes it’s Middle Eastern Studies, depends on the college.)

GPA Unweighted on a 4.0 scale: 4.6

SAT Composite: 1260

High Honors each Quarter

APUSH, AP ENG 11 and 12, AP EURO, ECE MARINE BIO

Top 14% of my class

I put a lot of effort into the writing the Tufts supplements! I started writing them like 3.5 months ago so they could be as polished as they could be!

My other supplements are just as unique. I don’t copy/paste anything at all, ever!

Honors:

-President of Drama Club
-Creator of Astronomy Club
-Best Advanced Spanish Speaker
-Best Freshmen/Sophmore/Junior Actor
-Drama Executive Committee

  • International Thespian Society
    -Spanish Honors Society
    -National Honors Society
    -Tri M Music Honors Society

ECs:

-Model UN
-Drama
-Yearbook
-Astronomy Club
-Peer tutoring
-UN GirlUP
-Morning Announcements
-Chamber Choir
-Tennis Varsity
-Cross Country JV
-I take Weekly Arabic lessons

The SAT score is my biggest worry honestly for Tufts. But I’m done with tests, I’ve already taken 4 and I personally believe that’s enough. I’m not improving anymore lol!

If you actually read this whole thing, I commend you! Thank you so much!

I’d say that your app looks pretty strong, but that SAT is going to be a big issue.
That SAT is very low by Tufts standards, and the four attempts at it probably won’t help your case either. Standardized test scores aren’t everything, but when applying to a school like Tufts, those stats need to be high. Good extracurriculars won’t mean anything if your test scores aren’t competitive.
In addition, a big gap between GPA and test performance might scream grade inflation to an admissions committee.

I’d be interested to know how your AP scores are. If you did well on those it could definitely help your case and show that your SAT scores are a fluke. Otherwise, it might be an uphill battle for you.

Best of Luck!

Your listed unweighted GPA (4.6) exceeds the stated scale (4.0)?

yes, i got over 100s in some of my classes, therefore, the scale exceeded itself, haha

Yes, I agree the main problem is the SATs, it’s sad but true. Honestly my scores do not at all reflect me as a person, so I worked extremely hard to shine in every area except the score, thank you!

Have you considered superscoring from all test dates? Do you have SAT subject tests too?

The 1260 is my combined (composite) score!
