Did you qualify for aime with you amc score? that could help, anyway as strategy without knowing anything about you or your fellow applicants, rea to Stanford. Maybe EA to your state flagship as well.
Current Wharton student here (I wanted to go to Stanford in high school too, but honestly am so happy I am here because it fits my interest much better). Here is my honest advice: apply to Stanford. It doesn’t matter where you get into, but IMO the what if syndrome is much worse than a rejection (in the long run). I have become completely fine with the rejection I received from Stanford, and I still hold the school in high regard, but I know why I didn’t fit in at the undergrad level.
@collegemom3717 gave some of the best I have seen on here: college is not the end all be all, and I really think you should take that to heart.
I am so happy I am at Wharton now, and I would tell you I wish I ED’d, but had I gotten in then, I probably would not be as grateful as I am now for having gotten the opportunity to come here. If you want to go to Stanford, apply to Stanford. If you want to be in Philly, ED here. But don’t strategize: you have to apply where you think you will be happiest. Last thing: ED rate for M&T is probably not that much higher than Stanford REA.
@theloniusmonk I have qualified for the AIME three times. This past year I was awarded with Distinguished Honor Roll on the AMC 12. I have also qualified for the USAPhO this year.
Why do you think I should REA to Stanford?
I’m struggling with the same decision. If you want to connect through snap or somewhere easier to talk, I think we’d both benefit from weighing out the pros and cons
@chloe0932 Sure! What’s your account?
@topsological You have received some well thought out sound advice. Having read it all and without the benefit of all your the objective and subjective components to your application, I would say apply to Stanford. I think both are reaches based on their acceptance rates. I think Stanford being EA even if you get in you in theory could also apply to Penn in RD and then if you were fortunate enough to get into both you could take more time to really delve under the hood with these acceptances in hand and make sure you are comfortable with your end selection. I don’t think one will provide that much of a boost over the other so follow your current heart and then see where the chips fall.
