You can’t compare the two unless you’re accepted. If you apply to UPenn as an ED candidate, there’s still a 95% chance you’ll be turned down.
Also, let’s look at this in a different angle. Just because you can go, doesn’t mean you should. Let’s say you do get in as ED. You’re stuck, because you signed a commitment, and there’s no guarantee the financial aid will be affordable. I’m not really a fan of ED. There’s too many things that can go wrong.
I would just apply to the schools during the normal decision process. This way, it gives you the ability to shop around and compare costs and FinAid packages. Remember, it’s you that’s choosing them, not the other way around.
