which one has the highest % rate of people getting in?

Your chance at Chicago ED is 0%

LOL....It really is though.

One of the things that UChicago says with its EA program, is that it provides no advantage over the Regular decision process. The admittance rates are the same for both EA and RD.

That being said, the acceptance rate at UChicago is remarkably high for a school of it's caliber, currently hovering right around 38%

I believe JHS posted in a recent thread that this is incorrect and there is a marked difference between EA and RD numbers. This is most likely due to a higher caliber applicant pool in EA versus RD. EA students had their essays ready early, didn't feel the need to submit mid-year grades, didn't re-take standardized tests late (I'm not sure on the actual dates accepted, so this is a guess) and are more likely to have Chicago as a first choice school: since the U of C focuses a lot on "fit" and places a lot of importance on the "Why Chicago?" essay, it makes sense that these students who have Chicago as their top choice would have a higher admit rate.

I think that if you could do a little experiment and submit identical apps EA and RD ... enough times to achieve statistical signifance ... I think you would notice a small 'bump' for the earlies. The Chicago admissions people all seem to be very intelligent and professional and ethical - and undoubtedly do their best to treat all applications with equal fairness. That said ... I work in a world of adults and committee decisions and being tired at the end of a project. If I were applying, I would rather have my application evaluated towards the beginning of the cycle - IF, at that point, it was pretty much the best I could do.

... and right after the coffee break :-)
