I want to go to Brown, but my ACT scores did not come back the way I wanted from the september test. should I retake in october and apply regular decision (scores shouldn’t be back till at least nov. 7th) or should I stick with my superscore of 30?

How are your academics/extracurriculars? If I’m not mistaken, USNWR says that Brown’s 75th percentile ACT score is 33, so there are a LOT of people who are accepted with lower scores on that. Have you taken/tried the SAT? Because I many of my friends actually did better on the SAT than on the ACT (I was the opposite).

Are you aiming for ED? Because most students that apply to Brown’s ED are deferred to regular decision, so you might as well try for ED. (I could be wrong though…)

Anyways, I’m not a student at Brown…I’m applying now (regular decision), but what I’m trying to get at is that most schools look at you as a whole person. If you have a great GPA, good extracurriculars, and a really solid set of recommendations, then it might make up for your ACT score!

FYI Brown does not superscore the ACT.

^^FALSE!
Brown DOES super score the ACT.

Here’s Proof:

I know that’s probably not super legitimate but they do super score, my college counselor told me.

They do not superscore your ACT. Your guidance counselor is not qualified to tell you what school “does or doesn’t superscore.” Try calling the admissions office before 5 on weekdays, and you get the correct answer: “No, we only superscore the SAT. However, we do take your highest composite score into consideration when looking at your application.”

Really? because I toured brown and they said they super scored both?

I guess I’ll call and ask but I’m fairly sure…

I think you’re right cwinche.

I applied ED with 1800 SAT, so it shouldn’t matter, and its much better to work on essays than tests
