do you think it's harder to get in RD instead of ED becuase under ED they knwo for sure CMC is your absolute first choice school?

i'm applying to a number of schools, but CMC is somewhat my first choice. Obviously, it'd be nice to get into a whole bunch and get to choose in April, but I know that out of all the schools, a CMC acceptance would mean the most to me.

My D is in the same boat pixiedanzer and CMC has about the same admit rate for RD as ED, of course slanted slightly towards ED. She considered ED but needs fainaid and didn't want to take a chance although they are quite good with aid either way.

when i went to visit last may, the admissions counselor and my family had an extensive discussion regarding this (esp since we were the only ones in that day for a tour)
1. the notion that you receive less financial aid during rd is false. in cmc's case, they dole out as much as they can in the beg rounds, ed 1 and ed 2. therefore you have just as good of a chance to receive decent financial aid, even if your son/daughter goes for ed. a close family friend went there. they're very middle class, and the daughter applied ed 2. when they received the finaid package, it was substantial, but it still wasn't enough. she just called them up, and they worked w/ her. she entered school that fall. my pt is that if finaid is the sole barrier preventing you from applying ed, my advice is not to worry about it.
2. a couple of comments that he made reg ed v rd: apply ed 2, as opposed to ed 1, if you want them to see significant improvement in grades etc senior year. though the acceptance rate might be similar, my argument is that it's still easier ed, because they only have 900 beds to fill, so diversity is huge. obviously not in terms of only ethnic diversity, but socio-economic, general beliefs/attitudes, etc sort of diversity.
