ED vs RD

i know that some schools have much stronger applicants for the ED round but some have the stronger ones in the RD round. from what i see in the ED results thread, many of the applicants were very qualified and had high numbers and such. so my question is..

is it harder to get in during the ED or the RD round? generally, when do the stronger applicants apply to penn?

haha nobody knows?

We know, but does it really matter now? All the applications are in and there is nothing more anyone can do.

Just chill until the decisions come out.

Much easier to get in RD stat-wise.

However,

All of the legacies/recruited athletes apply ED, so your competition in the RD round is much more fair imo.

@marcosanfilippo- i know theres nothing we can do anymore; i was just curious.

@minkus- thanks!

Minkus, that’s absurd. The acceptance rate is much higher ED, the applicant pool is usually either the same or less competitive stat-wise, and applicants have the advantage of a binding agreement with Penn to demonstrate interest. It’s MUCH easier to get in ED, assuming you’re already a qualified applicant.

A borderline candidate has a higher chance of getting in applying ED.

@malan89

I agree- just trying to help out @dontstopbelievin a little here lol.

However, the ED pool has ALL of the legacies and virtually ALL of the recruited athletes.

I said the competition in the RD pool would be more fair, not easier.

Penn admits 50% of each incoming class early decision. That said, the competition is fierce for ED. Legacies, athletes, and faculty kids all apply ED.

BTW, Minkus is one my favorite Boy Meets World characters…

thanks for the feedbacks guys, my internets been down for a couple of days.
so… the conclusion is that RD is just less competitive with legacies, athletes, and faculty kids and the competitiveness in students is actually not much different?

yeah. they take more early, but early is more competitive… so I think it kind of balances out.

okay, thanks guys :)
