When Amherst gives its statistics about the percentage of students accepted ED does that number include legacies, atheletes, and students of Amherst employees? Or, does it only include those who applied ED with a signed ED contract? Please answer this question only if you are certain of the answer and as it applies to Amherst. Thank you very much.

Why would their reported ED number possibly not include legacy, atheletes and students of Amherst employees? Do you want them to separate out by people who are good-looking, over 6'2" or reside more than 500 miles away from campus too? Basically, their statement asks candidates to not try to strategically guage the system, not to to examine it with unintended scrutiny.

Legacies and athletes accepted ED all have signed ED "contracts".

Questions are normally posted by a high school student because they do not know the answer to a question and would appreciate a response to educate them based upon the knowledge of the person kind enough to reply. What the youngsters are not seeking are the smart assed replies that you have posted. Dana's Dad

This is the Internet. Deal.

I am SO sad to see such responses from Amherst kids. You certainly are not putting your best foot forward, and are instead rude and obsteprous. That isn't what I encountered there. And I wish I didn't have to encounter that here.

Tough crowd. Sure doesn't make Amherst seem appealing, does it?

come on, let's try and keep it civil. A little courtesy goes a long way. And Grace, I think judging a school on a few obnoxious internet posters is not the best way to see what a school is really about.

lemonjello, Amen to that!

Sorry to cause such a commotion; it just seemed like a ridiculous question to me. I can't imagine that any college in the country has ever broken out their admissions data to that level of detail. Also, questioning someone's motives has nothing to do with how appealing Amherst is.

I am pretty sure that gellino is not an Amherst student, so please don't judge us based on that post, it's very silly.

And some schools DON'T include those people in the stats, considering them instead to be "special cases", so it's a perfectly reasonable question. I'm sorry I don't know the answer. Good luck!

Boy for a fairly straight forward question .... All I know is I hope all of us CC kids who applied ED to Amherst which we all love get in on Dec. 15th

Good luck to you all! danlynne, my D thoroughly enjoyed her visit with you. Hope your dream comes true!
