I want to apply EA to MIT and a few public universities (UIUC, U Michigan, UNC), but I also want to apply ED to Williams.
Am I allowed to do that? EA schools don’t require me to attend even if I get in, and if I get in ED Williams all I have to do is closing my EA applications…is that right?
Colleges having ED usually allow you to apply EA elsewhere (but, of course, require you to withdraw other admissions if accepted ED). Majority of colleges, including MIT, UIUC, UNC, and UMich, which have EA allow you to apply EA or ED elsewhere, but there are exceptions and thus you need to check the specific rule of the EA college, e.g., Yale and Stanford, which have EA, prohibit you from applying EA or ED elsewhere, Georgetown, which has EA, allows you to apply EA elsewhere but not ED.
@drusba Thank you! Do you know if Williams has special restrictions from applying elsewhere EA?
It allows you to apply EA elsewhere.
the question is are you willing to give up MIT if you get into both?
@ccfk1221 I think I’m okay with that, I’m planning on going to a grad school after so I’ll apply to MIT for grad school then. Both of them are my top choice schools (I’d be happy to attend either), so I’m just trying to maximize my chance of getting into either.
it will hard…
