I am a high school senior preping for IIT-JEE. My friend introduced me to the SAT and instructed me on how to apply for undergrad courses in the US. I did some research and I am pretty obsessed about studying in the US. Now, I registered for the oct. SAT II and the Nov. SAT I. I already missed AP's. I know it sounds stupid, but please go with it. Now I have some doubts.

Can I still apply ED - Cornell, given my incredibly late SAT's?

Every self help book I read says - "Take as many AP's as possible. Show colleges that you have challenged yourself." For me the AP boat has sailed. So can I just let the adcoms know that I prepped for JEE in the personal statement or something? Will it work? (I don't need any college credits)

Please Chance me on Cornell ED (that is, if ED is applicable for me; question 1)
I have been solving some SAT I tests from the collegeboard and I scored +2300 in every single one I solved. Scoring a 2400 in SAT II
would be a breeze (Thank you, JEE). I have all A's in 9th, 10th and 11th grade. I intend to major in CS, and I have pretty steller EC's related to it. I also did some charity work, sports (badminton and swimming) and also had a paid part time job in a computer firm. I donot intend to disclose it on CC, so you can just take my word - they are great. I can get great LOR's from my teachers and have already started brainstorming on the essays. Lastly, I won't need any financial aid.
Thank you for reading this. Please reply.

Most ED deadlines are Nov 1 so your application will not be complete before the ED deadline . You should have taken the SAT 1 in October that way you could have at least applied to a couple Cornell schools ( ILR HE hotel ) anyway you shouldn’t worry because you will get in RD.

Thank you @savemylife for that reassuring reply. Now that I cannot apply ED, I list the foll. Colleges. Please chance me on them.

Long shots (In case I get lucky)

Harvard

MIT

Columbia

Yale

Stanford

Target Schools:

Cornell

UChicago

Carnegie Mellon

UC Berkeley

Johns Hopkins

Safeties:

Harvey Mudd

UCLA

UIllinois, Urbana

UTexas, Austin

Just curious, while applying for financial aid internationals need to fill the CSS and not FAFSA, right?
So do you ask for financial aid from the same form or do we get to decide colleges that I want aid from and the colleges that I don’t want aid from. Like for example cornell provides ‘TATA scholarship’ to Indians who qualify for need based aid, while Carnegie Mellon rejects international applicants
solely because they ask financial aid. Now what I intend to ask is that, can I show cornell that I need aid so that I can qualify for TATA and at the same time tell
carnegie that I don’t need any aid?
You see, I would be sponsored by my community. So, I could still qualify for aid if I
show my parent’s income as my only source. Actually, I have no probs in getting fees from the community, but financial aid is always better.

yes you can choose your finances based on schools…but I dont think you have understood the idea of safety school 'coz UCLA is by no means a safety…plus I don’t think it gives aid to internationals

I get what you say BChanakya and I do get what safety schools mean. It is all hypothetical. If I do the same at my actual SAT as I fare at practice papers (+2300) and that my EC’s, LOR’s and essays are bound to remain as they are, don’t you think putting UCLA in safe pile (given it’s resonable acceptance rate) is not a bad choice?

CS in Stanford is nearly impossible the only Indian I know who did CS in Stanford in Ankit Fadia so yeah…

i would say UIUC and Texas is a given if you can get a 2000 plus score.
I had a friend who just went this year to UIUC with a 2060 and a friend at Texas Austin with a 1980.
Your practice tests scores depend on what books you are using. I used Barrons and I used to score from 1800-2100. I got a 2360 in the end. Depends on the makers of the tests. Some are tougher, some are easier. And keep the SAT in perspective, it’s not the single MOST important thing in your application.

Here is a list of colleges that offer ED 2 option as well.

The ED 2 deadlines are 1 January.

@savemylife- At least three to four Indians every year study CS at Stanford. And, one or two of them are from DPS RK Puram
