Ed ?

i got some questions:

How does ED work and how does that benefit ur chances of getting into the college u choose?

Is ED only work for one college or can it work for others?

Is it more expensive?

Is it harder then applying regular.

Can i apply to PUBLIC schools early decision or is dumb? especially UCLA. i do have some tough schools in mind and theyre private but I doubt ill go because of the cost. (Princeton,Stanford, Cornell, but UCLA is my top choice).

if u answered all of these u pass the test lol but please help.

Depending on the school, sometimes ED applicants are given a slightly larger chance because it's a binding decision. For the school, they can nail down a good "first crop". For the applicant, they get to hear yea/nay/deferred early from their first choice school. For those admitted early, they can sit back and be at ease. For some schools, ED doesn't give a significant statistical boost because the ED pool is still quite large.

ED requires applicants to withdraw all other apps if an admissions offer is made. Since it's binding, you need to attend. It can only work for one college.

No. Cheaper if you get admitted if one thinks about it. You don't spend any more money on other applications!

Earlier deadlines require more diligence on the student. Also, one can only be evaluated on the first three years of HS academic performance.

Since ED is binding, ONLY use it for your first choice.

thanks this really helps

From the UCLA website:

UCLA Undergrad Admissions: How to Apply

"Early Decisions
UCLA does not offer an early decision option."

It's been a couple of years, but I thought ALL of the UCs all had a single admissions date, no early or rolling??

See this thread for definitions of different types of admissions:
