Ed?

Hi, just wondering my chances, I applied to Barnard ED.

Stats:
SAT-1380
SAT IIs- Writing (730), Math IC (720), French (700)
Gpa- around 3.8, I'm not sure how my school does gpa
My school does not rank

I go to a dual program school, it's kind of like the movie Fame, so we do both our majors and acadmics during the day. Btw, I am a dance major.

I have been in every honors class I could be in. I was in accelerated english, and came into high school being 2 years ahead in math.

Junior Year-
AP Calculus
AP French
AP U.S. History (2 year course)
Physics
Honors English

Senior Year-
AP Lit
AP Pyschology
AP U.S. History
AP Statistics

Extracurriculars-
-I have been seriously dancing since I was in the 5th grade in a prestigious Manhattan dance school. I am there every day until 7:30-8, therefore not leaving much other time for ecs.
-I am the Editor of the Dance Department Newsletter
-I am a dance editor of our yearbook
-I have also been a member of the national honors society
-For each summer during high school, I have attended different 5-6 week dance intensives, requiring auditions.
- Last summer, I was an intern at a chiropractic office

Recs/Essay-
-I have good recs from my AP french teacher and honors english teacher
-I ahve a rec from a Barnard alum who has known me for 5 years
-A rec from the office in which I interned this summer
-Excellent essay

Also, my school does not give out awards, other than senior awards which are given out at the end of the year. Last year, Barnard accepted 10-12 girls from my school, through regular and ED. This year, I am the only student applying early. Thanks so much!

I'd say you have a very good shot; your SAT scores are 20 pts over the median. You also show passion for an EC. The only thing that might hurt a bit is your gpa; their average is like .1 higher, but it's not a big deal. Since their yield is pretty low, by showing that you want to go there with ED, you have about a 70% chance. I'm also applying (RD), and i'm going to NY for an interview tomorrow. have you had one yet? good luck with everything! :)

I had my interview this past Tuesday. I was hoping to have one with a senior, but I had mine with an admissions officer. Unlike other interviews where I felt they were selling the school as much as I was selling myself, in this case, I was completely selling myself. The only info the interviewer had was my academic interests and my ecs. She went through everything basically say, "so, tell me about _____" Then she asked me some strange questions, like what it was like to be a teenager in nyc. Otherwise, it was pretty straight forward, I wouldn't stress too much. Good luck!

so did you bring the resume that you sent with your app or is it like swarthmore where you fill out an ec info sheet when you get there?

I didn't bring anything with me

Sounds like an in to me!
