If you apply to Early Decision 2 (In January) do you lose the advantages that you would get in ED1 such as a higher acceptance chance?

I’m applying ED next year, but since this is the first year they’re doing this (at least that’s what I was told), there really is no concrete answer to this question. I’d imagine ED2 lies somewhere in the middle of ED1 and RD, although you could make the argument that ED2 would be better IF the school isn’t happy with their first batch of ED’s and wants to lock up as many applicants as possible in round two, of course with NYU that probably won’t be the case. Honestly I’d imagine that what they’d do is look at your application, if you would have gotten in then they’d let you in, if you wouldn’t have then ED wouldn’t change it, but if you’re close and they’re comparing you head on with an RD applicant they’d take you over him/her if all other things were close to equal. I have no real knowledge of what they’re planning, but that would be my guess.
