ED1 or ED2?

Hi there, I'm currently a senior in High School applying to NYU with ED. I am however conflicted about which Early Decision option to pick. I want NYU to see my Semester 1 Senior year grades since they are outstanding, however I also want to ED1 since apparently that has an even higher acceptance rate than ED2?

The reason for this is because my freshman and sophomore year grades are just a tad bit above average and thus I want to send the senior year grades too which are a 3.9ish. If I decide to ED1, will NYU still ask for my Semester 1 grades once they are released or will they their decision be solely based on my academics from freshman, sophomore, and senior year?

Thank You,

Decision is not based on senior grades for EDI. They give you the decision in Dec and mid reports are due later.

EDII is for students who want to show improvement senior year. If your GPA is the same or very close to your junior and sophomore years, I’d apply EDI.

Thank you sarora, however is it true that students applying for ED1 have a higher rate of admission than the ones applying with ED2?

Sometimes, yes. But it’s not by chance always, ED1 applicants are usually the legacies and students that are very confident they’ll get in.

Yes, ED1 has a higher acceptance rate than ED2. This is a correlational relation, not a causation of applying ED2.

hey…im still VERY confused if should go for ED 1 or ED 2.
i plan on applying to the Abu Dhabi Campus (NYUAD is definitely my first choice!!)
they dont require SAT in particular (since i have already given 3 AS levels) but im still appearing for the november SAT. despite of the requirements…i still keep thinking that i should wait til my SAT scores come out before applying since (if good) they might give me an edge. however, if i apply ED 1 and mention that im appearing for SAT, my scores would be sent in automatically (which is risky)…

i really need advice as to whether i should go ahead with ED1 or wait for my SAT and go for ED 2…

@tasmar: definitely ED2 since you have SATs to take. and yes, sending them automatically is risky because you can never really predict how well you’re gonna do on that day until you take the test. In addition, if your senior grades are higher ED2 is better. However, I don’t know much about Abu Dhabi campus and their SAT requirements.
