ESSAYS
My common app essay was about the app I built for my high school. I spent months on it until I felt it was perfect.
My “in common” essay was a list of 3 reasons and a short paragraph explaining why Lehigh and I have this in common. After reading articles and mission statements, I found that passion and leadership are big things at Lehigh. I wrote about the internships, and the leadership of the class I’m in this year.
My second supplemental was the “your name as an acronym”. I wrote about my family and past (moving and stuff), I didn’t write anything about computer science or my extra curriculars as I felt I was talking too much about what I have done and not about me.
INTEREST IN LEHIGH
Met alumna and current students during the internship
Interviewed with admissions
Emailed professor that co-heads the CSB program, and interviewed with him as well
Met the regional rep at my high school when she visited, asked good questions, introduced myself after her presentation
Visited campus twice
As others have posted, and as admissions themselves say (a lot) showing interest in Lehigh is big. Going ED1 or ED2 is very large indicator of how much you want to attend Lehigh. By reaching out to admissions via email, visiting, interviewing, etc. you can show your interest. Also, emailing and sitting down with a professor is helpful, because the professor will report back to admissions.
Good luck to everyone that was deferred today, and those of you applying ED2/RD. Hope to see you next year!
