Does anyone know what the drop in acceptance rate is if one applied ED2 vs. ED1. Also, how does that ED2 acceptance rate compare to the RD rate? Thanks.

BMP please

well this is in the colgate viewbook i have and it's data for 2008. so it's old
For regular decision
6551 apps/ 2184 accepted (this year it was 7872 and 2205 accepted)
For early decision
472 applied/ 277 accepted and enrolled (37% of the class)
These are old numbers, but hope they help...

Thanks. However I was trying to compare the acceptance rates ED1 vs. ED2? Anyone have any ideas?

bmp please

Is this information obtainable. For example, it would be very helpful to know what GPA and SAT's you need to get in ED1 and whether those same statistics also apply ED2. Knowing what percentage of students admitted under each plan does not provide the information needed to decide whether one is a viable ED candidate. Of course, the CMD's provide overall ranges and numbers but then again, these are not necessarilly applicable to ED. I suspect most schools are reluctant to provide the ED stats because they include recruited athletes etc and perhaps some others who might have benefited from a hook or otherwise. Bottom line-- what stats do you need to get into Colgate ED and are they more foregiving (read lower) than applying RD?

I don't know why you're so concerned about the differences between the ED plans. You actually have until March 1st to apply ED II as extenstialpony here did.

Forget the admissions strategy game- it will always, always backfire if you obsess over it.

If you love Colgate, just apply early!

ED 1 and 2 have acceptance rates that are probly virtually identical- its doubtful that there is more than a 2-5% difference

Thanks so much. Does ANYONE know what GPA and SAT's are needed to be admitted ED? I sound like a dog with a bone but I am trying to get a realistic idea of how these stats relate to the Common Data Set stats.

id say if you have above a 1350 and are top 10% of your class (around my stats) then colgates a match... even if its lower though , other shiit matters as well- gary ross writes personal notes on acceptance letters, and to me he talked about my ECs and rec letter, and AP course load (no mention of high numbers getting me in)

I'm sure the statistics are just the same for every college with ED. They want the best of the best and those who really want to get in.

High numbers are a given most of the time, it's what differentiates you that's important.
