Congrats to all who got in, and for all those who didn't, it may just be a numbers game. Swat has published (through the Phoenix) the number of EDI/II apps, number of EDI acceptances, and total number of slots they want to fill through ED. They filled most of the available ED slots through EDI. It all leaves around 30 slots to fill from 175 EDII apps!!! Outrageous! Not so sure EDII gives any kind of boost, at least compared to EDI. I guess, though, with 6000 total apps for RD at Swat this year, the odds are still better applying through ED.

Anyway, everyone who's posted stats are ridiculously well-qualified and will do extremely well wherever you end up, with all the skills that brought you this far. YOU GO!!!!!

Lolita22- At least with EDII you've already applied to other schools and like other schools- in that way it's better than EDI... At least you still have no more work and you don't have to stress out.

Dnalorkoi1- Thanks, haha. Yeah, it's a crappy feeling. I'm glad you have some understanding friends. That would help a ton.

To all deferrals/rejectees- Where else did you guys apply? Similar LACs? Anybody else hopeful for Vassar or Bryn Mawr? (I also applied to Colgate, Grinnell, and a couple others...)

Swarthmore rejected me. Now that I have recieved the decision, the rejection does not hurt as much as I thought it would. I'm just worried about my chances at the other LACs. I'm worried that there might be some liabilities in my apps.:(
Maybe I just took too much of a risk with my essays. Both my personal essay and Why essay are extremely quirky.
I applied to similar LACs - Amherst, Williams, Grinnell, and the like(6 other LACs).

I'm sorry Skunk. :(. When I was rejected by Haverford I found that knowing hurt a lot less than wondering. I was freaked out because everyone, including a prominent LAC DoA, had expected I would get in. My immediate thought was "if I didn't get into Haverford how the h*ll am I going to get into places like Wesleyan and Amherst?". I was reminded by said DoA that different adcoms, different results. Do you have some good safeties?

If it's any consolation, being rejected ED II might be a little preferable to the parallel scenario ED I considering that you'll know your RD results in little more than a month lump in throat.

That's what I thought might be wrong with me, skunk. They weren't "extremely" quirky, but they definitely leaned more towards a narrative-like essay than a typical descriptive essay. Different, at least.

Now, my "Why Vassar" essay- THAT was extremely 'quirky'. I decided to change the essay I was working on for weeks for one that I did pretty last-minute... Decision is haunting me, haha.

I wish there was some way to know what was wrong. Ugh.

You shouldn't look at it with the idea that something was wrong with you. Swat got over 6,000 apps this year and they enroll a class of about 365. Do the math, there are some pretty incredible people who get denied (incl.ED)....that's just the way it is, it's a small college and there isn't enough space for everyone. You weren't denied, your application was.

I'm an international, too, but haven't heard from Swarthmore just yet... when would be a good time to call the admissions office?

YOU's scores are somewhat reassuring, I got 670m, 710cr, 800w. Not that impressive, but I hope it'll do... What country are you from YOU? I'm in San Pedro, Mexico.

brillar, I just emailed Swat asking whether there were any major liablities in my app. I hope they will reply to the email.
However, considering my case history of 3 unanswered emails, I seriously doubt they will reply.

If you get an answer, I'll feel pretty dumb that I didn't ask them back in December, when I still could have changed things. At the time I just figured it was something I couldn't really help like my SATs or my ECs...

CC really does wonders making you feel inferior in the SAT/EC departments. Augh.

for those who got accepted ED2, was there any financial aid package in the letter? How come I got the notification letter and deposit thing without the financial aid package????
