ed2

to everyone who got in congrats...to everyone who didn't: while in the past cmc had an admit rate of 30%, and ed1 this year was around 25%, ed 2 for the class of 09....a whopping 11%. yup so for those of you who applied ed2, you would've had a better chance in ed 1 statistically...and if u apply rd, you may have a less competitive pool...yay for us!

my stats for kicks:
1510 sat/800 french/790writing/740 math 1c - 6 aps (4s and 5s) - rank: top 10% (competitive pub high school) - speak 4 languages fluently - working on 2 more - pres of s&d, state-national awards - concert pianist - dem volunteer for 5 yrs, attended convention - started a read for me program at local crisis center - model leg/state sup crt attorney - ntl merit finalist...am really interested in ir/pol science...strong recs, 1 great essay (com app), and medium to strong analytical one...

thinking about applying as a transfer?
gah, i know it's just a school...and i'll get over it. but for right now this is really blowing

wait so ur applying RD right? those are amazing amazing stats

Will the RD acceptance %'s be higher then the ED ones?

If it will....that'll be weird.

nope sry wasn't clear - - applied ed 2 & rejected...oh and i'm indian ahah which doesn't change nething but ya know

I applied for CMC ED II, and I haven't been contacted at all yet. (I called, and she just said to keep checking the mail). Today is the day they are supposed to tell us. I was just wondering, how did they go about telling you if you were accepted? And how long ago did you get your notice?

found out yest - in the mail...just keep on waiting? probly tom. maybe they send out rejections first? not sure.

when do the RD decisions come out?

Good Luck everyone!

and azgirl you are such an accomplished person and i'm sure you'll be amazing and do well no matter where you end up.

april 1st

and i appreciate the boost ahah now that i'm a "reject" - i'll give it a few more days to wallow in self-pity and then move on...but esp to other ed2 kids who may not have gotten in...so many of u guys were probly extremely qualified, and had u applied a diff yr you may have gotten in...i totally understand what u guys r going through :-)

waiting for April 1st. great to know that rates for the RD will be higher !!

Wow, thats insane. After your Stats, I'm confident I didn't get in.

I only got a 1390 on my SAT's. That definitely screwed me.
I'm thinking the admit rate is so low this year, because of the Princeton Review telling the world how great CMC's Political Science Program is.

Good Luck on your other admissions!

thanks! you too kiana! let's keep hope =)

ahtsisab is CMC ur first choice?

Wow 11% that's intense! Do you know if ED 2 was a lot harder than ED1 or if they just didn't have as many qualified applicants? maybe this is typical, I dunno... azgirl, you sound REALLY qualified. I seriously have no idea how I got in if you didn't, our stats and extra currics are actually pretty similar. I'm sure you'll get into many good places! Good luck!

Ok, So i just got rejected. I'm not sure how to handle it.... but here are my stats, just so you know.... YEAH SO IM A REALLY BAD TEST TAKER

SAT's: 1390 (probably the largest contributing factor to my declination)
SAT II's: I don't remember
AP's and IB's: 3 on APEURO, 4 on US, 4 on English Lang . 3 on Spanish, 3 on chem. (i forget IB's)
GPA: 4.8 weighted, 3.97 unweighted Top 1% in class, Full IB diploma candidate
EC's: founded Model United Nations at School (and president), Varsity Dance Team, Key Club Lieutenant Governor, CSF VP, School Musicals, Spanish Club, Christian Club, Youth group, Internship at a manufacturing Corp. for business

Essays: Analytical about "Hey Arnold!" comparing his characteristics to world leaders... My teacher loved it.
and personal statement: comparing my life to noodles.

I am terribly depressed right now. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE REST OF YOU!

Don't worry! I didnt get in either but I've already been through the grieving process since my letter came a few days early. It just means that it wasn't the right school for you. Wouldn't you rather know now that you will be more successful somewhere else than go there and hate it and have to transfer? Everything happens for a reason, and not getting in is just opening the door to that one perfect school that is dying to have you in their freshman class next year. It may sound cheesy, but seriously consider these words because I really believe that they are true. Let us know where you do decide to go!

Don't give up hope on CMC if that's your dream school. Your stats are amazing! If I were you I would write them a follow-up letter and send them updates of any new accomplishments. You are bound to get into an equally good school in any event. Best of luck.
