But, at the latest, they'll all be mailed by this Friday. I'm going out of the country (unfortunately- long story) next Saturday.

Perhaps Hollins, Mary Baldwin

WFU and Elon are both done...all I have to do is hit the submit button.

i don't have any yet... i'm really counting on duke (i know that's bad)
if i have to though: upenn, brown, stanford, harvard, etc - but there's a huge gap between them and duke
they were due this friday but my counselor said he'll personally see that my apps go out if i don't get in early

haha good lucky w/ that

hahaha i'd probably have to skip school to finish them up
we'll see -knocks on wood-

lol one of my friends has done that already! he did it for rice, dec 1 deadline for interim decision.

I feel really strange. I'm already done with everything. I was accepted to Michigan at Ann-Arbor, NC State, and Georgia Tech. So all I have to do is wait for Duke. The wait is the worst part though.

anybody agree that emory is like just like duke without sports. def my second choice. i sent in my mich app about half month ago kinda late according to this board though

yea emory is a nice place, if you have ne questions about it, I've lived near it in the ATL all my life and know a ton about it

o kool....how is the weather. would u say the campus is a lot like dukes, and u thnk lack of athletic excellence and no football team will detrac from social enjoyment.....thanks a lot and np if u cant answer some since ur not actually a student there gl with duke man

I live in Middle GA, and am extremely familiar with Emory (did db8 institutes there the past two summers/applied for their scholars program), and really do like it. The architecture is beautiful- whitewashed buildings, some of which are marble. There is a lot of greenery, and the campus just oozes beauty.

The weather: eh. It's Georgia, so, in the summer, it's going to be EXTREMELY hot and, more importantly, EXTREMELY humid. It's sometimes unbearable.
Rather, winters aren't that cold. Right now, our temperature is fluctuating quite a bit--I think we even reached low 70's one day. If you can handle the Southern heat, you should be okay.

Sports- Emory is, of course, not known for athletics. A lot of kids party (it is in Atlanta, which is a bustling, crazy city) and go to clubs on the weekends (some, on weekdays, of course). I've never spent an extended period of time there over their actual school year (it was kind of dead during the summer), but I'm guessing it's pretty active.

One of the main things that really attracts me to it is its proximity to downtown Atlanta. The campus is secluded enough to allow for some privacy (unlike GA Tech, which is smack in the middle of the city), yet I've noticed you can hit Peachtree/Buckhead (a ritzy downtown area) in less than 10 min through back roads. When you want to retreat, you can, and when you need a taste of city life, downtown is right at your fingertips. Everyone who I've spoken with is fond of the school as well.

As far as prestige goes, of course, Duke beats it. Many people have never heard of Emory (although it is still growing) up North, but it IS a top-25 school (#20, if I'm not mistaken). It has fabulous science majors, and is pretty well-rounded in regards to other course offerings/recognition.

I really don't see much of a comparison to Duke (possibly because I find it hard to compare anything to Duke), but it is a great University. I think my living in GA really turned me off the school at first- it's hard to appreciate something you've had continual access to. I'm sure my mentality would be different if I didn't live in this state.

thanks a lot gl and if u have any question about any schools in new jersey feel free to ask
