Your Cornell NetID is your key to secure online services at Cornell. You will need it to view and pay your bursar (tuition) bill, add and drop courses, check financial aid awards and more. Your Cornell email address will be used for official university announcements.

Your NetID and activation code will be sent to you after the university receives your response to admission coupon and deposit. You are expected to activate your NetID and Cornell email account immediately.

So...if we sent in our deposit in December, we should be getting info from cornell about this soon, right? Any ideas?

2014 ED here from New Jersey. According to newstudents.cornell.edu:

When do I get my Cornell NetID?
Beginning April 6th, after the university receives your response to admission coupon and deposit, you will receive an email (at your admissions email address) that your NetID was created and what to expect next.

If you have a text-enabled cell phone number already on record, you will have the option to receive your activation code and instructions via text messaging.
If not, a letter will be mailed with the information necessary to activate your NetID.
Within the U.S., the letters typically arrive in 3-5 days. Beyond the U.S., the letters are sent via airmail; delivery time varies by country. Once you activate your NetID, your ApplicantID will be disabled.

I got the email telling me I’d get a netID. I was excited for a few seconds, until i realized I had to wait another four weeks before the letter CONTAINING my netID would reach me. Another month of waiting I guess, heh.

they should send you an email and tell you that you can get your activation code by a letter they sent by mail, or just have them text it to you. It took 5 minutes or less for me to get it working after I got the text. Pretttty simple.
