interesting, this list would indicate Dartmouth is a significant reach for most ED applicants if this is any measure.

How many of you are recruited athletes or legacies?

How so? The other schools we're applying to have similar acceptance rates to Dartmouth.

suze --

Hmm. If your first choice school happens to be a reach (as many of them are, even for top students) why wouldn't you apply ED to it? (assuming family's ability to take the financial risk) There certainly are some schools on these lists that aren't as competitive as Dartmouth, but aren't applicants supposed to be building a combination of reaches, matches, and safeties?

Actually what astounds me most about these lists is how LONG so many of them are -- Is that really necessary?

Well, my school limits you to 6 private schools if you apply to SUNY or CUNY. I would have a lot more matches and maybe a few safeties if I could apply to more.

i just like a sure thing.

I honestly had no idea where I would be accepted so I applied to 17 schools! I think it is far better to apply to too many than to too few.

but you have equal chances of screwing up in all of them...

I am applying to 23 schools (besides Dartmouth)..I know, sounds desperate
