EDII Housing, etc...

I got in as EDII and I want to select housing (HOVA.) When do you think we can do this? They said something about March?

Has anyone heard anything else from GW? I got my offer of admission, sent the deposit, and haven't heard a thing. I know they got my deposit because I can log into the GWeb using my SSN and DOB (dob as my pin MMDDYY.)

I haven't heard yet either. I'm pretty sure they said it wasn't ready yet but they would mail housing information around the middle of march.

Yeah, they said in the acceptance about sending the housing materials when they come out in mid-March.

What happens when you log into the GW website with your SSN and DOB? When I try to do that, I get a "Your Password Has Expired" notice. Maybe my deposit hadn't been processed when I checked?

Also, is anyone else considering living in Lafayette Hall and doing a "Living and Learning" community? I like it's location better than HOVA.

HOVA's location's definitely a minus for me. But it is close to the metro (kind of) and it does have a pool on the roof. It seems less vomit-soaked than the others.

I live in HOVA now. It's really nice. Probably one of the nicest freshman dorms in the U.S. It's an old Howard Johnson converted into a freshie dorm, with red-carpeted rooms, individual bathrooms, a pool on the roof, a small gym, and a house-keeping service. It's in a nice area of DC overlooking the Potomac and The Watergate complex, with its shops and theatre.

Thurston is pretty nice, also, it's just bigger and is more of a "partay" dorm. It's actually a lot of fun. I find myself over there a lot. It's also really close to the white house and across the street from The World Bank and The ESIA building. It doesn't have a gym or a pool, but it's close to the wellness center, which is really nice. Single bathrooms and housekeeping services are offered in Thurston.

Definetely register A.S.A.P. Don't worry right now which you register for. When you register you get a time-stamp, which is basically on a first-come, first-serve basis. The sooner you register, the less your chances are of getting throne into a six-man suite in Thurston. You will get a chance to register online in March, and ED students will have the first chance to register becasue RD doesn't even get a decision until April 1.

GW Colonial- knowing what you know now if you were a freshman which dorm would you choose, Thurston or HOVA?

HOVA, but I still like Thurston for its parties.

I know GW has a rep for good dorms, but is this merely because of the converted Ho Jo, or are the other ones really nice too?

No, Thurston is nice also. It's a step above most freshman dorms nationwide, but it's no palace either. Lafayette is pretty nice also.

O, and after freshman year, living gets MUCH better. There's nice apartements on campus!

Isn't HOVA the dorm that was where the look outs were stationed for the break-in at the Watergate, back when it was a Ho Jo ? And not sure, but I think it is the dorm that's in the background in one of the shots with Michael Moore in Fahrenheit 9/11.

You are correct, Hayden.
