I got deferred from University of Chicago (my second choice)...I'm considering applying EDII to Swarthmore (my first choice, but I didn't originally want to apply there early decision for fear of being roped in/changing my mind), but I sent in all my applications at the same time, and it was marked regular decision - is there a way I could change that?

Bump (I dislike the ten character limit.)

When is the EDII deadline? Could you email the admissions office or rep in charge of your area and ask if they could consider your app under EDII group?

The EDII deadline is January 2 (same as regular admission deadline). I am planning on calling the admissions office right now actually.

Cool. Do tell me how that goes.

My little anecdote: Cornell College (in Iowa) extended its EA deadline to December 19th while previously it was Dec. 15. I had filled in the Common App on Dec. 14th (no fee if before Dec. 15th - I procrastinate), then posted the transcript and their supplement on Dec 16th. Then I get an email to all prospective students saying that the EA deadline to extended to Monday on Saturday, I think.

Well, now! I was a little miffed cause I put myself under RD cause I wasn't so sure if the deadline was when the ONLINE App was put in or when the POSTMARK of the supplement and recs/transcript sent in. I wrote them an email Sunday, asking if my app could be considered under the EA group, whatwith the new deadline and I got a reply today saying they will.

:D

Yay!!! I'll know by Feb 1st, but I'll still know ahead of the others! Yes!!!

I called and they said that I needed to print out the part of the supplement dealing with early action and have my counselor sign it, and write a note saying that I wanted to switch from RD to EDII and sign it, then fax both of them in.

Cool. I hope you don't have vacation already, though... worried Mine already started; don't know about schools in Pennsylvania.

Nope, Friday (the 23rd) is my last day.

And the lady who I talked to in admissions said they'd like it before the holidays so I'm going to fax it tomorrow anyway.

lucky you. I just got an email from an admissions officer asking for transcript from my second high school. I thought my external exam results (British IGCSE) would be sufficient, as did my guidance counselor.

Now I'm stuck cause the 2nd high school and my current high school both have vacation now. What on Earth do I do???

worried

For Swarthmore? I'd say call the admissions office tomorrow, explain the situation and say that you will send the transcript ASAP when you get back.

It's for Saint Louis Uni. Deadline was December 1st for scholarship consideration. sigh

Oh hmm. I'd say the same thing? Fax it or overnight mail it? They might discard it and not even look at it, but then again, they might take it into account.
