Edii

Ok guys here’s the situation
I wasn’t sure If I wanted to apply ED to Bucknell or not back in Nov., so I didn’t. After some thinking and researching Im almost sure I want to go to Bucknell…(great engineering and an LAC). Now I am most worried about financial AID. I am of low income and I am worried that if I am accepted, they will not give me enough financial aid.

So, do you guys think I should take the leap of faith or not?

Bucknell meets 100% need (EFC as determined by the CSS profile). Whether or not you agree with your "need" is another thing. My son got a fantastic aid package from them, and they upped his grant this year from last year's total. You can approximate your EFC using a FAFSA calculator, but you must also complete the CSS profile on collegeboard.com. Make sure you meet both deadlines. (FAFSA and CSS)

That being said, what you will not know if you go ED is if one of your other schools would have offered you something better. In our case, the other offers were comparable but not better. Your case could be different. If you need to wait to see the other offers, do not apply ED.

also, at Fall Open House Admissions Counselor said that Bucknell's Scholarships are need based and more are offered than ever!

If your stats are in upper range that may help out, too :)

I don't know how their admissions is now but 8 years ago, my sister was accepted and was not qualified for aid, but my parents did what they could to pay for it, which even included re-mortgaging the house so I mean, maybe they are better with it now. I don't know.
