Edii

I know many people talk about ED schools. But when visiting many NESCAC schools except Williams/Amherst, they all said they had EDII. If deferred/rejected from an EDI choice, can you then apply EDII if your 2nd choice has the option? And do you get the same benefits as EDI?

Yes, you can apply ED II if ED I doesn’t work out for you; at some schools benefit is derived from the perceived commitment shown by an applicant who applies ED however at schools such as AC and Williams, this consideration is to be taken less seriously. From a commitment standpoint, logically it would appear that a person ready to commit in January is more dedicated to the school than one who decides in March, but IMO, that is not a much of a factor. The reasons to apply ED I/II are: if you are sure X is a school you want to attend, to truncate the process and potentially, to display commitment. At some of the NESCAC schools ED will take you a lot further than others.

Most importantly, Bowdoin and Colby I would say…would these be schools where ED II is a benefit?

Colby, maybe; Bowdoin, probably not huge.
