Hello community!
I just got accepted by Edinburgh majoring in A.I. and C.S. And I am just wondering how is the reputation of Edinburgh for this filed because I want to go back to the states for my MS or PhD degree. Thank you.
Edinburgh has no problem getting students into Ivy-level grad schools. Btw, they are doing the US tour in the next two weeks for admitted students - you might want to attend a session in your area
Thank you very much for your info.
Hi NGC1277-
My daughter is interested in applying edinburgh’s computer science programs- could you pass along any tips and your experience with the process? Also, what level of math have you completed? Thnx
Hello KaffeineKitty! I think you have already know that all undergrad application should be done through UCAS (kinda like commonapp but a lot easier to use) My suggestions would be that besides putting scores stuff on UCAS, directly emailing the admission officer with the SAT/ACT/AP report will be helpful. At the same time go and ask the counselor to “verify” the accomplishments and provide “predicted scores (of AP usually since only once a year, and because GPA does not matter, AP becomes the very factor to show the ‘ability to study’)”. Another tip for essay in the UCAS is that being related to the intended major (computer science). This is important because they do not care about any EC(CS club is definitely a good tho).
So take at least 4-5 APs and get/predicted to get 4 or 5;
Sat/Act: 2000/30 will not be a disadvantage;
Write an essay to show the strength and interests in Computer science;
Keep in tough with AO.
Good luck!
Oh my math is Cal BC level.
Dear NG-- thanks all good ideas we had not considered- especially email the AO with scores. Did you consider other CS programs in the Uk, and if so, why did you choose Edinburgh?
Edinburgh is a very reputable university so I would think your chances will be great after having studied there. Just look at its global rank - its in the top 100, so pretty amazing. It always varies or each subject but generally speaking Edinburgh has a really high rank and good reputation.
