I plan on applying early action to Yale or Harvard and am wondering if I am deferred, am I allowed to make changes to the common app and resubmit, or do they simply only see what I submitted November 1st?

I'm asking because I may be receiving an important academic award and musical achievement during November and wanted to know if I'm deferred if I can add that to the common app for the RD review?

You can create another version of your common app and make changes to that one. The process requires a few steps, you can search the common ap or maybe find it here decribed in cc. Then when you log on to the common app you can select which version you want to go to.

If you have already selected schools to your first version you will have to delete them from the first version if you want to move to your second version. I believe it then it asks you if you want to add them to the second version instead. The process was a little obscure I remember when my son did it so watch for that.
