I did my CSS Profile really quick in 1 day for QuestBridge match process and now I’m looking at my CSS Profile again after 3 months. I need to update my 2014 info I put with new 2015 taxes but the CSS Profile won’t let me edit online. So I’m supposed to call them and give all of my new information over the phone? I was hoping to redo the application and look at it more carefully this time.
Nevermind, I read some stuff that I have to manually submit a copy of the tax report with handwritten changes. So what am I sending my old CSS profile to all of my colleges for even though I’m gonna be mailing in the updated copy to all of them later. This process really doesn’t make any sense, CollegeBoard is making me pay a fee to send in an old copy of my profile…
Contact the schools. Some will want the hand written changes. Others will want the data another way.
You can’t update for colleges that you have submitted to already online. BUT if you are adding new colleges, you CAN update the info before you make these new submissions.
For already submitted colleges, contact the schools. They will tell you how to update.
Most will want you to do your FAFSA and link to the IRS Data Retrieval tool. This will be the way they know about income and taxes from the actual 2015 tax return.
Some schools use IDOC, and will want you to complete that process.
Some schools might want a handwritten copy…but that is less common now that the IRS Data Retrieval Tool is used.
