heeeey, so i'm applying RD to NYU CAS and i have some questions for you guys about SAT vs. ACT scores.

my power SAT score is a 2080,
Math: 700
Writing: 710
Reading: 670
(i know, my reading completely and utterly killed me =[)
however, my ACT is a 33,
and i have a 36 in english, 34 math, 34 reading, 31 science
(from three diff. takings, but i have a total composite score of 33, power score = 34!)

what do you recommend i send in? will my SAT scores hurt me?
because according to average statistics i am on the middle/high-ish mid 50% of SAT scores, but above the high mid 50% of ACT scores. (av = 28-31, or something like that)
i have a ton of ECs which really tell a lot about me as a person and show my dedication and interests. for specifics, see link!
i go to an extremely competitive high school with a very hard curriculum (all honors + APs over four years...) and an ~91 GPA. no class rank, school too competitive.
i also have a unique family situation and medical history.
hoping my essay is good, but not the best i have written =\ not a big fan of the topic hah, but it definately tells the reader a lot about me as a person not obvious necessarily from grades, ECs, scores, etc.

ALSO: SUBJECT TESTS!!
Math I: 730
Math II: 710
Literature: 700
**i am only sending two, which ones? should i not send level 2 math? it is a horrid percentile, and will that hurt my chances?

I agree. I was in a very similar situation: SAT 2050 and ACT 32 (both one sitting). My counselor recommended only to submit the ACT. It won’t hurt!

DEFINITELY the act. i have a 36 on the act… aaand a 2040 on the sat. lol. i just suck at taking the sat, and i’ve accepted that. (: i had to take the sat again though to see if i could raise it enough… damn national merit… but yeah, send in those act scores giiirl!

Only send the SAT II’s with your ACT’s if you think they will help. For CAS, I personally don’t think sending any of your scores will hurt. Though, I would suggest just sending the ACT because a 33 is more than enough to get you into CAS; it’s good enough to give you a decent shot at Stern.

okay, i think i am only sending my ACTs in. since they are above the mid-50% range, i’m hoping that is good along with my ECs, essay, short answers, GPA, etc. =)
