Education degree / teaching certificate

Unlike some other schools, Allegheny’s website says that it does not provide a track for a teaching certificate after 4 years. However, it seems to provide a lead in to a masters at a couple of larger schools, and says this is more valuable to the students than a traditional certificate track.

Can anyone translate this for us? Is this a weakness dressed up as an advantage, or is Allegheny’s pre-teaching program particularly valuable in some regard? Thanks.

I don’t know anything about Allegheny’s program but I do know people in PA who can’t get hired because schools don’t want to pay the higher rate for someone with a masters degree.

That’s discouraging. More marketable with less education. I thought all public school teachers had to have or be on track towards their masters.
