I've just received my acceptance letters from boston college and tulane and i talked to my counselor. he told me that if i decide to major in education or nursing after two years "the government" will pay off my loans from the first two years. is that true?

There are specific instances when teachers can get gradual portions of your loans "forgiven" (Stafford, Perkins, etc.).

I am including a few links that give you infomation as to some of the guidelines, such as teaching in a critical needs area or teaching at qualifying low-income schools. My son will be a secondary ed/mathematics major so I had run across this info along the way.
