<p>Hi,</p>

<p>I'm a student from the Netherlands and next year I will probably study at the UW for some months. I've looked at the site, but I still have some simple questions.</p>

<ul>
<li>You get credit for courses. How much is 1 credit (it represents for how many hours work?)? And how much credits will you earn normally in one year?</li>
<li>How much periods (quarters of trimesters?) does one college year have (excluding summerschools etc)?</li>
</ul>

<p>1 credit is 3 hours. There are three quarters without summer and the standard schedule has 15 credits a quarter and 45 credits a year.</p>
