It's such a great pity for a man destined for even bigger stuff should Obama win the election. But I think the biggest victim here is his sick wife, who apparently had to suffer the knowledge of an extramarital affair since 2006 while undergoing treatment, AND subsequently campaign for her husband.

I would cheat but then I wouldn’t get married. Why is marriage such a big deal anyway, sex is a beautiful thing and should be shared with as many willing people as possible imo.

But men are on a constant hunt to spread their seed. If a woman smiles at a man, and she is attractive, he wants to bed her. If a woman says hi to a man, and she is attractive, the man wants to bed her. If an attractive woman walks by a man, he wants to bed her.

I am a bit surprised because I assumed any hanky-panky he engaged in would be with a man. Well! I can’t be right all the time.

I don’t wish to malign or offend anyone’s sense of morality but people are animals. Saying it’s “shallow” to be sexually excited strikes me as a bit sheltered and judgmental, and a bit dishonest as well. It’s perfectly natural. There’s nothing in our genes that suppresses base urges (or restricts feelings of love) once we’ve had our ceremony in which the human male says some words and the human female drapes herself in a collection of cotton plants and they put their lips together. Sex is not love. You can certainly make it so but it doesn’t have to be.

Dishonest yes, just human. No more sick than any number of men who have affairs. I would say his political career is done but we are a short-memories, forgiving nation so I’m sure if he eventually wanted to get back in to politics at some lower level he probably could.

First off Looses needs to be spelled right. It is “loses” in that context.

Secondly, the timing of this won’t help Obama any. I don’t think it will be as devastating as everyone thinks though. Edwards wasn’t named as the veep candidate so they’ll simply strike his name from the list. Had they been further down the path and he was seriously being considered then there would be some problems.

A week from now something else will happen and we’ll only care peripherally about this issue. It will only come up when some conservative needs to make a point about character.

Anybody wonder why Edwards didn’t even bother to run for a second term as Senator in N.C.? After seeing the news about his affair in recent days, I think perhaps the rest of the nation understands more what too many in N.C. figured out years ago. Arkansas had it’s “Slick Willy”; N.C. had it’s “Con Job John.”

In the same vein, it’s too bad we didn’t successfully impeach that slick Willie, and wipe from the slate of history of his accomplishments in office.

I don’t understand how being an adulterer impacts one’s job performance as a politician.
Well, perhaps in being voted into office in the first place, but otherwise.
