EE 122/Walrand Thoughts and Experiences

Has anyone here taken EE 122 or any class by Jean Walrand? Did you find it worthwhile? I heard that EE 122 switches between EE and CS emphasis. Is this true?

yes it does. I can only speak for the Fall/CS oriented version. It’s pretty much a conceptual overview of the TCP/IP stack. There’s no math. There are two projects that need to be written in C: chat server/client and a dynamic dns server. I enjoyed the class, but it’s probably something that you can self-teach yourself.

Spring version is probably different… check out the archives:

Thanks for your response. Is the text reader friendly? I would think lectures would be crucial towards understanding for a conceptual class unless the book is amazing. I might try teaching myself this stuff next semester instead of taking an EE version of the course with a less-than-stellar professor. Anyone else have any thoughts?
