First is it ok to skip Physics 7 if you got a 5 on E & M and go straight to EE 40

If so

is it too much to take?

EE40
Math 54H (I've taken Diff EQ and Lin Alg before)
CS 3

Yeah, how much physics 7 material is used in EE 40? It said just ohm’s law…

You can’t skip Physics 7A and 7B no matter what.
You can’t skip Math 53 either.

Yes you can.
Yes you can.

Seems like a fair schedule…might even be on the light side.

Thanks for the comment.
(i was trying to skip physics 7a/b and math 53 but couldn’t)

Math 53 is not a prerequisite for Math 54. And the College of Engineering lets you skip Physics 7A if you get a 5 on the mechanics exam.

Here is what I know for sure:
You can skip Physics 7A, with a 5 on both Mechanics and E&M.
You can’t skip Physics 7B no matter what.

If you want to skip any Math classes beyond 1B, you have to bring your syllabus and work done wherever else you took the course.

Not necessarily true. You can skip out of 7a/b/c (not recommended) if you desire to do so. My roommate started fall semester with physics 137a, which implies he skipped 7a/b/c. Actually, you can skip out of ANY course if you truly desire to do so (and you have the ability to back it up). The guidelines for everything (academics) at Cal are fairly loose; they will not hold you back if you have the ability to go way further ahead.

Also, you could take a placement test OR you could describe your situation to the head major advisor (Marc A. Rieffel) OR you could take an upper division class as a substitute. I talked to Rieffel and successfully skipped 53, 54, and 55 without taking any of them at any college =p
